Rebirth of Nature. Rebirth of Self.

What a joy it is to see nature bouncing back during those last few days! It's been raining for almost 3 days now. It was one of the worst droughts in living memory in Australia according to the media and just 3 days of rain and miracles are happening! As I'm walking in the reserve which is just couple of minutes of driving from my house I'm witnessing the rebirth of the forest. All the trees, bushes and other plants big and small seem to expand and soak the rain. It doesn't look like it's been several months of drought. It seems like the plants were sleeping during the last couple of months trying to survive severe conditions and they're waking up now! Some bushes and trees are still yellow or brown but the vast majority is wonderfully lush green. What a resilience! What a wonderful example for all of us! Even the hardest times eventually pass. Life is just an endless journey of ups and downs. Everything in this physical world is a wave - sound, light, electromagnetic waves, seasons, our emotions, our growth, everything. The universe is always progressive and never stagnant even if sometimes our perception gives us the impression that things are stagnant. At times we feel we're not ready to change and that's ok. I believe it's better to acknowledge where we are rather than pushing ourselves to where we think we're supposed to be. I feel like most of my life I wasn't happy where I was. I was chasing for perfection and not noticing how far I went and what I achieved. Perfection is an illusion and I believe it's nothing wrong with striving for perfection because that intention gives us direction in life. However, it's important to notice and appreciate what we achieved. I know I don't do it often enough. I usually feel that I always need to do something but sometimes it's ok to slow down and just be. Be present and just notice where we are. We are human beings, not human doings. Even if we're still, everything in our body is moving. We're breathing, the heart is beating, the blood is flowing, the neurons are firing, the cells are constantly being replaced. We're not the same person that we've been a year, a month or an hour ago. We've evolved physically, emotionally, mentally, energetically. Maybe it's a tiny change, barely noticeable but it's there and it adds up. That's how we grow - step by step, breath by breath. I stop, take a deep breath and use my senses to notice what's around me. At this moment I witness the rebirth of the forest and I witness changes in myself. Is it the end of the drought? I don't know. There might be another one but I appreciate and enjoy this moment because I'm alive! What a joy it is!
